Fee limits & FAQ

What fees can and can’t do, troubleshooting, and how to remove fee products when you stop using fees.

Limits

Limit	Details
Active fees	Up to 20 active at once, depending on your plan (1 on Free, 5 on Basic). Drafts don’t count.
Tag and collection conditions	Across all your fees: up to 3 different tag lists and 2 different collection lists, each with up to 100 tags or collections. Fees that use exactly the same list share it, so reuse a list where you can. A fee that would need one more list stays inactive, and the Fees page tells you why.
States and provinces	Fees can depend on the country, not the state or province.
Large carts	Fees are charged on carts of any size Shopify allows, including large wholesale carts with hundreds of lines.
Other bundle apps	If another app also changes the same cart line (bundles, add-ons), the app that was installed first wins for that line.
Rounding	When a fee is split across several units of a product, it’s rounded down by at most a cent or two — shoppers are never overcharged.

FAQ

A fee isn't being charged

1. Check the fee is Active.
2. On the Fees page, look for a banner saying a fee is active but not being charged — it explains why (for example, your plan’s limit).
3. Open the fee and use the Live preview with the same products: it tells you which condition isn’t met.
4. Country-based fees only appear at checkout.

Do discount codes reduce fees?

Percentages are calculated on prices before discounts. A discount that applies to the whole order can also reduce the fee line, the same as any other line.

Is tax charged on fees?

Only if you turn on Charge tax on this fee for that fee.

Why are there products tagged cb-fee in my store?

Each fee is a hidden product (not shown in search or collections) so it can appear in carts and on orders. Manage them from the app rather than in Shopify admin.

Stop using fees or uninstall

Uninstalling the app stops fees being charged, but the hidden fee products stay in your store. To remove them:

1. Open Fees & Surcharges

   Scroll to Remove fee products at the bottom of the page.

2. Remove them

   Click Remove fee products and confirm. Every fee is deactivated and its product deleted. Your fee settings stay in the app, so you can activate them again later.
